When you’re living abroad in Europe at the age of 20, many foolish decisions are bound to be made. When I was in Paris, a friend of mine (that didn’t speak French, by the way) and I thought it would be a good idea to have a drink, meet some cute French boys and agree to get in their car and go on a drive.
After my one White Russian, sure, this seemed like a fantastic idea. Once in the back of their convertible, with fresh oxygen seeping back into my brain, I realized that this was not a fantastic idea, rather a very foolish one. So, in the most coherent French I could muster, I somehow talked them into dropping us off at some fake location and said we would meet them in an hour.
Through back alleys and neighborhoods, we managed to sneak back home, laughing hysterically, without the guys knowing better. But whenever we would head back to the cafe we met them at, the employees would tell us how two guys would come in looking for Zee American Girls!
Dumb decision. Hilarious and cherished memory.
