Reporting from American Airlines, en route to Chicago.
There is something about plane rides that make me super productive. It usually goes like this.
Board the plane.
Fall asleep immediately.
Wake up after 45 minutes feeling refreshed. Snack time!
Gulp down a bottle of water and if the plane has WiFi, my computer comes out and then it’s all about catching up.
Here are the 2 reasons that I get so productive.
a. Different space. I usually work from my office or from home. When I need to switch things up, I find really great coffee shops to set up shop. It’s when I switch things up that so much gets done.
And
b. While I may have Internet, my phone doesn’t ring. This is hands down the biggest reason things that were supposed to get done one day get moved to the next. Usually, it’s a struggle trying to be available for my team and feeling guilty if I’m not and trying to unplug from being available so I can plug into what needs to get done.
So for any of you feeling like you’re not making a big enough dent in your to do list – switch it up and unplug.
