There’s standing in someone else’s shoes. We do that to have compassion for someone else. Then there’s standing in someone else’s small story. My Wednesday Whine is all about that small story and how to crush it.
Do you know a person who is really quite magnificent? They exhibit all those great qualities: empathy, strength, compassion, respect, thoughtfulness, open-mindedness, appreciation etc.? Do you also know a person like that who just doesn’t see it that way? It’s as if they are sitting on a heap of wealth (currency=awesomeness) but don’t even recognize it. They don’t see it because someone else is telling their story and they are believing it. The story describes them as insignificant, not good enough, unworthy etc. There’s no acknowledgement of that person’s true essence.
I don’t like it! In fact, I’m beating my hands against my chest out of frustration for those people that try to control another with their small story because of their own resistance or envy.
If you are a person telling someone else’s story then I invite you to take a look at what you might be resisting and/or what you might be envious about and DEAL WITH IT! Likewise, if you are the person standing in someone else’s small story, you then need to move the hell on out of there and stand in your own light.
