Can you control what gets to you and what doesn’t?
Thanks to my good friend and business partner, I have a ninja tool. I can put myself into a bubble of light and no negativity can penetrate.
I’ve done a pretty decent job at weeding out those type people and have a pretty kick ass crew of good, well-intentioned people. Still, without much choice or control, ill-intentioned people will come around and there’s not a whole lot you can do about them. You can, however, control you and how you react.
It’s easy to forget this when you’re triggered. So, in a recent uncomfortable situation, I did it. I closed my eyes and inserted myself into the bubble of light. A bright light!
Instead of telling you what happened to me, just do it yourself and experience what happens. Then you can make fun of me later.
This morning was a different bubble. The please don’t talk to me bubble. See, when you have to get up at 4am to catch an early flight out and back for a one-day meeting, the super friendly chatterbox that might usually be me on a plane… ain’t happening. Instead, I insert myself into the silent, alone bubble. I’ll smile politely and then I’ll close my eyes and sleep. So to the kind person sitting next to me – it isn’t you, it’s me. Thank you for respecting the bubble.
What bubble are you in today?
