Sometimes a white lie is okay… right???
I say yes! We do it for many reasons, usually to maintain peace and because it’s an easy way out. If it’s saving unnecessary drama and saving someone hurt feelings, I say go for it.
Of course, let’s remember what a white lie is. It’s not a lie lie. It’s more like a slight stretch of the truth.
I may or may not have been guilty of the following:
“I’m 5 minutes away.” – I may be more like 15 minutes, but I don’t want the expecting party to lose hope.
“I will get right to that first thing in the morning.” – After my workout, coffee and a few calls I have to make. 1pm is the new first thing in the morning.
“Next time I’m in town I am totally calling you!” – It’s going to be about 6 more months, they’ll forget about me anyway.
And here are some other most common white lies:
“You look so beautiful!” – Like you’re really going to tell a bride that she doesn’t look good on her wedding day?
“He is so adorable!” – Look, everyone knows a newborn baby can look a little funky.
“I was a superstar in high school” – Because you don’t live in the town you grew up in and no one will ever know.
What white lies have you told…?
