But maybe with the new tools Facebook is implementing, it doesn’t have to be. Yes, with the advent of ‘Take a Break’ you don’t have totally de friend your ex and you don’t have to see who they’re dating now. You can just choose to not see them in your newsfeed or show up as a suggested name to tag in a photo.
I have an opinion on this (as I always do). Firstly, if it’s the kind of breakup where you really need to move on and get past this person then why not just de friend? I believe that is truly the best way to get over someone. However, if it’s not going to cause you any angst and you truly are ‘cool’ to be friends – just not the type who are in each other’s lives everyday then I guess I see the plus side.
The main gift, I think this brings is to the new girlfriend or boyfriend. No, they really don’t like seeing your romantic past on your Facebook page. I would bet that most are not loving that only 10 posts down you publicly wished your ex love a most happiest birthday with thanks for being such an inspiration to your life. Especially if you just did the same to your new love… Ruh Roh.
And you? What do you think?
