In just days, we will be scrolling through endless posts of those recognizing fathers, husbands, brothers, uncles and sons. Those still with us and those who have passed. Those we wish we knew better and those who stepped up when someone else couldn’t.
And so, I chose today, a little early, to acknowledge one special father.
He’s a man of strong character. He has values and morals. He’s the tough guy when you need it. He doesn’t need to be liked by everyone. He doesn’t need anyone’s approval for his opinions. He just does what he knows in his heart is the right thing and though it may be judged by others makes no difference to him.
He’s kind to a fault sometimes. He gives second, third and fourth chances and wants to see the good in everyone. He gets it. Like he really gets it. He knows what you feel like when you struggle. He knows how you feel when someone is being awful to you. He knows what it’s like to feel beaten down and he also knows what it’s like to feel accomplished and proud.
He gives when no one is watching and doesn’t expect the recognition. He steps in when others can’t or won’t. He is the ear that will listen and the voice that will be firm when needed.
He loves so deeply which makes him hurt deeply too. He’s good at keeping a straight face, but still good at trusting his feelings to the people that love him.
My husband is all I could have dreamed of and with every day, the joys and challenges that come into our life, he shows me more of the incredible man he is and I still find myself continuously impressed and amazed that I get him as my partner for life.
